Zakynthos, the most southerly of the Ionian Islands, is a beautiful
and verdant island, justifiably known as “The Flower Of The Levant.”
To the south of the island is the beautiful wooded peninsula of
Vassilikos with small bays and beaches, some of which are protected for
the benefit of the Caretta Caretta turtles, which lay their eggs in the
fine sand. To the west are the majestic cliffs of Keri which offer a
superb vantage point for some of the best coastal scenery in Europe, as
well as stunning sunsets.

To the north Zakynthos becomes mountainous with unspoilt coastal
scenery, rock formations, small bays, colourful tavernas and turquoise
waters looking across to the neighbouring island of Kefalonia. Zakynthos
town, the capital of the island, is noted for its Venetian architecture,
especially the colonnaded cafes and ice cream parlours lining the main
square.

Zakynthos provides a wide variety of scenes and landscapes for the
painter - colourful street life, marinas, a beautiful coastline,
mountains, and a verdant countryside.
